Mike Goforth
Starting Position: Construction Labourer
Current Position: Heavy Equipment Operator
Mike joined the KPCL team in 2017 and while he did not have any previous civil construction experience, he did have some industrial construction experience working on various projects like the Mosaic Stadium in Regina. With KPCL, he started as a labourer and was primarily involved in all aspects of the installation of geotextile materials for erosion control. Towards the end of his first season, Mike was given the opportunity to learn how to operate some pieces of heavy equipment – packer and rock truck – and he credits his willing-to-learn attitude as the attribute that helped supervisors give him that opportunity. From a young age, Mike had an interest in operating equipment and was eager for any opportunity to learn; the largest piece of heavy equipment he has operated to date with KPCL is a 60-ton rigid frame haul truck. He is confident and proud of what he has achieved with KPCL so far.
